SPEA, The 4 Types of Love.
Many of you must be thinking that Valentine's Day is just for those who have met their "the one", or for those who are taken. Well, I think of the opposite. For me, Valentine's Day was never really meant only for those who are taken or who are in a relationship. I personally think that it is the day of the 4 types of love. Yep, there are 4 of them: Storge, Philia, Eros, and Agape. Everyday in our lives, we feel these. Maybe we don't know or we don't realize when or how, but at some point, love just come. It is natural. It lives with us. Love lives and lasts.
The sweetest type of love that we could ever have is the storge. If you don't know this yet, then let me tell you what storge is.
Storge is a love that comes from our families. It is the natural love that family members have for one another. It is your mother's love for you. It is your father's love for you. It is your siblings' love for you. It is your aunts and uncles' love for you. It is your grandparents' love for you. Sometimes, I get angry of my siblings, but there will always be love for them. That's storge.
The next one is Philia. This is the most common love in public places like schools, workplaces, malls, parks, restaurants, waiting sheds, and even houses. Philia occurs in every friendship. This is the type of love that I got for my friends. It is strong, long-lasting, true, and brave. It is pure. Genuine. My friends understand this for sure because this Valentine's Day, I received a gift from them and it showed how genuine the love they have for me. It was and is so calming.
The third one is Eros. This is maybe the most popular one that people know. Eros. This is the love that grows between two individuals. It is when they feel this electric feeling just by seeing the one that they desire, when they see them smile, and when they hear their giggles. This love grows and grows. Actually, Eros is the god of love in greek mythology. This type of love begins when a person just falls for someone. And once their feelings get reciprocated, this love grows. Eros happens between couples, lovers, husbands and wives, and boyfriends and girlfriends. This is a beautiful type of love because it helps us find the one that we'd spend the rest of lives with.
The greatest among these types of love is Agape. Agape is such a beautiful word, as beautiful as its meaning. This is our God's love for us. It is always around us. It is when God gave us His only son. It is when God saved the world. It is when God created me and you. It is when God provides for our needs. It when God strengthens us. It is when He protects and guide us. Agape is the God's love for us. This love is shown by God's actions and the way He wants us to act to one another.
Well, those are the types of love. Love is always around us. Love grows, sometimes fade away, sometimes being covered by anger, sometimes isn't strong, sometimes uncertain, but it is surely beautiful and natural. Love lives with us as soon as we're born.
This day, this Valentine's day, I spent it with full of love. Love for my family, for my friends, for someone who I admire, and for God. I started this day with full of love and ended it with still full of love. Maybe the reason why this celebration exists is to remind every single one of us to love. It reminds us that love is beautiful and loving is beautiful.
Happy Valentine's Day to those who are single, happy and contented with their friends, got their hearts broken, hoping, got dumped, love from afar, taken, in a relationship, and for those who are loving unconditionally. Keep the love inside your heart alive because when you do, the love that you give will always come back to you.
